Jenni Siegel, a research scientist in Dan Johnston’s lab, received an award from the FRAXA Research Foundation for her project entitled “Prefrontal cortex network dynamics in Fragile X Syndrome”. Fragile X Syndrome (FXS) is an autism spectrum disorder and the most common heritable cause of mental disability. Using a Fragile X mouse model of the working memory deficits observed in FXS patients, this work will investigate the potential role that prefrontal cortex dysfunction plays in these cognitive deficits.
