To correctly map out the circuits underlying trace eyelid conditioning requires a carefully derived anatomical atlas of the neurons that participate. We are using reconstruct – software developed in the Harris lab – to build a combined atlas mapping out what regions cannulae, in vivo recordings and in vitro recordings are made. Using a careful, iterative process we are identifying retrogradely labeled neurons and infusion locations, followed by anterograde tracers to confirm the specificity of our labeling.

Here’s our current atlas laying the groundwork for how these regions are connected.
