Dr. Laura Colgin receives Office of Naval Research Young Investigator Award

Dr. Laura Colgin received a Young Investigator Program Award from the Office of Naval Research.  This program is one of the oldest and most selective research advancement awards in the country.   Its purpose is to fund early-career academic researchers whose scientific pursuits show exceptional promise for supporting the Department of Defense, while also promoting their professional development.

Dr. Colgin received this award in support of her work studying how computations performed by brain cells differ when particular types of brain waves, low and high frequency gamma waves, are present.  Understanding how different gamma waves affect information processing in the brain will enhance decoding of brain signals and thereby support the development of brain-computer interfaces.
